TALISAY City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas issued Monday, August 15, 2022, an executive order (EO) implementing a six-hour curfew for minors (17 years old and below).
The curfew hours will run from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. It will take effect Monday night, August 15.
Gullas, in a Facebook post, said he issued the order “because our face-to-face classes will be starting and it will be a good way to kick off our face-to-face classes.”
Schools in Talisay and other parts of the country will start the classes on August 22. The government announced earlier that starting November, full face-to-face classes will be implemented nationwide.
"Minors now, especially after being not able to go to school in two years, should concentrate on face-to-face classes. Classes should be the priority now," Gullas said.
He added that the EO was also issued as all barangay captains of Talisay have requested for it during a recent forum with officials.
He then directed the barangays, local police and the City of Talisay Traffic Operations Development Authority (CT-TODA) personnel to enforce the directive.
The mayor, though, has acknowledged that “economy and night life must go on.”
“People should go out, night life is good for the economy. But let’s just concentrate on our minors as we get ready to start face to face classes,” he said. (ANV, LMY)
