GLOBAL Star Motors Corp., the exclusive retailer of Mercedes-Benz in the Visayas and Mindanao, launched the new C-Class during an exclusive preview held at its showroom in Nivel Hills, Cebu City on Aug. 10, 2022.

Stepping up the game of luxury compact sedans, the fifth generation C-Class has been thoroughly redesigned and carries the latest innovations and modernizations that give the styling elements, substance and technologies from the flagship S-Class.

The exciting launch of the new C-Class was the first in-person showroom launch by Global Star Motors in over two years since the pandemic. Present during the launch were company president Edward Onglatco, senior vice president Kenneth Huan and Cebu sales manager Jan Michael Villamor.

“The New C-Class is Mercedes-Benz Cebu’s most exciting launch yet,” said Huan. “The C-Class represents the most desirable luxury compact sedan of Future Leaders in society, with features that are finally available in Cebu for the very first time.”

From the exterior design characteristics, headlamp and tailmap design, all the way to the flowing, seamless and extensively digitized interior, the new C-Class brings all the luxurious touches of the S-Class to a wider market, deserving the name “Baby S.”

Compared to its predecessor, the car has grown a lot—with a wheelbase longer by 25mm, overall length by 65mm, width by 45mm, and 7mm more ground clearance. From the side, it is also notably longer, with a sleeker coupe-like design—topped with new 18-inch multi-spoke light-alloy wheels and runflat tires.

The new C-Class is more digital than ever. The 11.9-inch floating central display touchscreen is loaded with features. The 10.25-inch free-standing full digital instrument display is already part of the standard equipment. The display style is also customizable to suit the driver’s preferences such as Classic, Sport, and Understated. It can also show driver assistance menus..

It also comes equipped with the latest generation NTG7 MBUX multimedia system that now gets more connectivity features and a “Hey Mercedes” voice command system. Drivers can connect their mobiles wirelessly via Apple CarPlayTM and Android Auto.

The new C-Class comes with advanced safety features. It has the standard seven airbags to reduce risk of injury, including a two-stage deployment airbag for driver and passenger, side bags, window bags, and knee bag for the driver. The C-Class has a lot of driver assistance systems such as the blind spot assist, active brake assist, active parking assist, 12 ultrasonic sensors in the front and rear, reversing camera, and attention asissg.

A 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 170 hp and 250 Nm of torque is what powers the new C-Class. Now, the C-Class comes with an electrified drivetrain with EQ boost mild-hybrid technology. Mercedes-Benz’s advanced technology is also electrifying the compact sedan segment, with its second generation mild-hybrid system. The Integrated Starter Generator and 48-volt power supply supports the combustion engine by providing up to 15 kilowatt of additional power and up to 200 Nm more torque. This is particularly noticeable in the acceleration behavior of the combustion engine—while maintaining low fuel consumption.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels by the 9G-Tronic automatic transmission, with barely noticeable gear changes for a smooth yet engaging drive. The transmission maintains low engine speeds which reduces the fuel consumption even more—and maintains a quiet running engine.

The new C-Class is a symbol of modern luxury that gives progressive comfort, intuitive connectivity, and driving dynamics that make drivers feel in control.

The new C-Class Avantgarde variant has an introductory price of P3,925,000 and is now available for viewing in the Mercedes-Benz Cebu Showroom. One may also visit the online showroom www.mercedez-benz.ph to know more.
