Cops recover IED, bomb-making components

AUTHORITIES have seized an improvised explosive device (IED) and bomb-making components in Jolo, Sulu, the police reported Tuesday, August 16, 2022.

Police Major Annidul Sali, Jolo police chief, said the IED and bomb-making components were recovered around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2022, in Bus-Bus village, Jolo.

Sali said that the presence of the IED and bomb-making components in an abandoned house at Sitio Barberohan, Bus-Bus village, was reported to them by a village official of the place.

Sali said there was no arrest as no one was around when the responding team of policemen arrived at Sitio Barberohan.

He said the recovered IED composed of two medium size bottle packed with ammonium nitrated locally known as “Baja”, two blasting caps, and two pieces of time fuse.

The IED was allegedly intended for dynamite fishing but can be used to inflict death or injury by lawless elements. (SunStar Zamboanga)
