THE Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) and Department of Public Services (DPS) have installed four solar-powered closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras at the Central Public Market to monitor the illegal dumping of garbage there.
The four CCTV cameras were installed on Monday, August 15, along Gonzaga-Bonifacio Streets, Gonzaga-Gatuslao Streets, Gatuslao-Luzuriaga Streets, and Luzuriaga Bonifacio Streets.
Engineer Joel Vergara, assistant head of DPS, in a statement, said the CCTVs will monitor the individuals, especially the vendors, who are dumping their garbage outside the market.
"It's a big help for us to determine the identity of the individuals who are not cooperating to maintain the
cleanliness in the market," Vergara said.
He added the market vendors should be responsible for their garbage and should wait for the collection schedule.
Vergara noted that the four CCTV cameras were donated by the city's garbage hauler, IPM- Construction and Development Corp. (IPM-CDC).
Aside from the Central Public Market, Vergara said, they will also monitor the Burgos and Libertad Public Markets to ensure proper garbage collection in these areas.
"We are monitoring the uncollected garbage so that it will be acted immediately by the city's garbage hauler," he said.
