Octa: Cebu City Covid-19 cases ‘trending downward’

THE coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in Cebu City are trending downward, Octa Research fellow Dr. Guido David said Tuesday, August 16, 2022.

David said the number of cases in Cebu City and the rest of Cebu have been declining over the past two weeks since its peak on July 31, 2022.

He said Cebu City’s average of new cases per day from August 9 to 15 is at 56, lower than the 68 the week prior.

At present, the city’s average daily attack rate is at 5.37 per 100,000, which has been considered low risk, while the reproduction number was 0.92 as of August 13, from 1.03 on August 6.

The positivity rate in Cebu decreased to 10.9 percent as of August 15, from 12.4 percent as of August 13.

In terms of healthcare utilization, Cebu City’s was at 33.8 percent, while intensive care occupancy was 42.5 percent as of August 15. (SunStar Philippines)
