THE Department of Education (DepEd)-Division of Mandaue City has received an additional budget of P17 million from the City Government.

Nimfa Bongo, DepEd-Division of Mandaue superintendent, told reporters on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, that the amount came from the City's Special Education Fund supplemental budget.

Bongo and DepEd Mandaue personnel met with Mayor Jonas Cortes on Monday, August 15.

Bongo said the money will be allocated to the Mandaue City Comprehensive National High School, Pagsabungan Elementary and National High Schools, Labogon National High School and Maguikay Elementary School.

These schools were heavily damaged when super typhoon struck Cebu last December, she said, pointing out that most of the classrooms at the Mandaue City Comprehensive National High School had lost their roofs, which is why it will receive the bulk of the budget, or P7 million.

The remaining P10 million will be divided equally among the four other schools, she said. (HIC)
