AN AGREEMENT was made between officials of a condo complex and two nightspots in Cagayan de Oro on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, in which the bars were prohibited from playing music on or before midnight.

The agreement, facilitated by the Regulatory Compliance Board (RCB), was reached between representatives of Avida Towers-Aspira, Station 29 and Lokal Grill. It was made after the occupants of Avida Towers-Aspira complained about the loud music emanating from both Station 29 and Lokal Grill even during the weekends.

Lawyer Jose Edgardo Uy, the RCB chairman, reminded the nightspot representatives on one of the conditions of the statement of commitment agreed to during a previous dialogue between the board and nightspot owners, which involves not playing loud music that would disturb nearby residents.

"We don’t want to reach that point in which we have to penalize the establishments with closure," Uy said.

On the same day, representatives of Station 29 apologized and signed the agreement along with a Lokal Grill representative and an Avida Towers-Aspira official.

According to the signed agreement, both Station 29 and Lokal Grill are prohibited from playing music at midnight in their open areas unless their sites are sound-proofed. They were also prohibited from using strobe lights that can disturb nearby residents during late evenings.
