The Cebu Landmasters-2003 and the Bad Boys Wingz-2007 kept their immaculate records intact as they overcame their respective opponents in the 25th Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) basketball tournament on Tuesday at the Magis Eagles Arena in Mandaue City.
2003 routed the Prince/Laptap/MYMC ZeroSix-2006, 87-60, to go to 5-0 in Division B. Meanwhile, 2007 got past the Radar Tires-2004, 74-71, to move to 4-0.
While man-beast Leigh Christian Dixon posted incredible numbers of 22 points, 27 rebounds, six steals, and five assists, he got timely baskets from the likes of Aaron delos Reyes and Jon Antigua to help hold off 2004’s late charge.
With 2004 hitting their stride in the fourth to climb back from a 13-point deficit, delos Reyes and Antigua canned transition baskets to keep their opponents at bay.
Delos Reyes finished with 15 points, while Christian Pepito had 12. Karl de Pio added a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds to go with four steals.
Christopher Consunji paced 2004 with 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Franco Te had 25 points and 10 boards. Unfortunately, those stellar numbers were not enough to keep their team from falling to 1-3.
In the other game, Wilmer Ong and Daryle Tan had 20 points apiece with the latter adding nine rebounds, five assists, and five steals to pace Batch 2003.
