Man shot dead in Talisay; drug angle eyed

A 22-YEAR-OLD man was shot dead in Sitio Campinsa, Barangay Manipis, Talisay City, Cebu on Wednesday evening, August 17, 2022.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Randy Caballes, chief of Talisay City Police Station, identified the victim as Raymond Tabanas Nadera, a resident of Sitio Kasagingan, Barangay Lawaan 3, Talisay City.

Caballes said the shooting incident happened at 9:30 p.m. but they only received a report about it at 10:55 p.m.

The victim was last seen riding a motorcycle driven by his friend around 6 p.m.

The police are considering illegal drugs or personal grudge as the possible motives in the killing.

The victim surrendered in 2016 for his alleged involvement in drug-related activity. Later in 2017 and 2018, he was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and illegal drugs, respectively.

"Mao ni atong gi focus sa imbestigasyon kon unsay motibo sa pagpatay sa biktima," Caballes said.

(This is what we are focusing now in establishing the motive in the killing of the victim).

The victim succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

The police are now trying to establish the identity of the motorcycle driver who fetched the victim in his house in Barangay Lawaan hours before the incident.

Renzo, father of the victim, admitted that his son was a drug user and he even advised him to leave the area as he often got arrested.

Renzo believed the motorcycle driver was his son's friend as he rode the bike without being forced. (BBT, TPT)
