Private sector council lays out job-generating plans to Marcos

THE Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) has laid its recommendations to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to generate more jobs in the country.

The council, led by its convenor and Aboitiz Group president Sabin Aboitiz, met with Marcos on Wednesday, August 18, at the Malacañang.

The PSAC recommended the following measures to generate more jobs in the country.

*Scale up MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises);

*Identify labor-intensive, high-potential industry segments;

*Attract more investors by making it easier to do business;

*Make labor regulation more flexible; and

*Build skills for short-term productivity and long-term competitiveness

Also present during the meeting were PSAC Jobs sector lead RFM chief-executive-officer (CEO) Joey Concepcion and members JG Summit president and CEO Lance Gokongwei, SM Investments vice chairperson Tessie Sy Coson, Magsaysay Group president and CEO Doris Magsaysay Ho, Alliance Global Group CEO Kevin Tan, and Ayala Corporation independent director Rizalina Mantaring.

Labor Secretary Bienvenido “Benny” Laguesma, who was also present in the meeting, expressed his full support for the top priorities recommended by PSAC.

PSAC said they will meet again with Marcos in the coming weeks to lay out a roadmap that will help the Build, Build, Build and tourism sectoral groups secure quick and substantial wins in the first 100 days of the administration.
