IF named Best Mask Contingent during the Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan, the group will win P20,000.

“This should be based on artistic design, but the criterion that holds the most weight is the wearability, it should be wearable and should not cause discomfort baka (they might) it is overly adorned and dili na siya (not) suitable for the dance and it should be relevant to the type of presentation especially our contingents will be wearing,” Harold Quibete, Indak indak organizer said during the AFP-PNP Press Conference on August 17, 2022.

Quibete said that there will be two sets of masks that the contingents wear during the event, one for the parade and the other one intended for the competition mask during the grand showdown at the San Pedro Square.

“Kasi if they start wearing the mask sa Acacia palang to the San Pedro Square medyo mabasa na ang mask (it will get wet before they reach San Pedro Square),” Quibete said.

Quibete said that this is one of the toughest parts of the event as the contingents are required to wear the mask throughout the competition, from the parade to the showdown.

“Lisod gyud siya kay magbaktas man gani ta di ba it's very uncomfortable for all of us, but sanayan lang (This is very hard because we even feel discomfort as we wear it just walking but they need to get used to it). We have to protect the welfare, especially atong mga bata kay (the children) the contingent count is 150, so it means daghan sila and magdikit dikit (they are a lot of them and they can’t avoid stick together) to avoid violating the basic health protocol,” Quibete said.

Quibete said they also advised the managers and choreographers to always bring gallons of alcohol during the rehearsal and on the competition day. KSD
