FIVE contingents backed out from the Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan competition due to insufficient funds.

“We should have supposedly a total of 15 contingents. They already started their rehearsals but unfortunately joining the event will also cost them a lot, ang ilahang pagkaon habang nagarehearsal sila (their food expenses during rehearsals), costumes, musicians, [etc],” Harold Quibete, Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan organizer, said during the AFP-PNP Press Conference at the Royal Mandaya Hotel on August 17, 2022.

Quibete said the latest contingent who back out is from Sultan Kudarat.

“They are already 70 percent of the entire routine, unfortunately, they were not supported by the government kay murag naay laing priority ang government na kung para asa nila i-delegate ang expenditures nila and dili labot ang Indak-Indak,” Babao said.

The Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan has two categories; Open and Davao-based schools. For the open category, there are five contingents to compete for the P1 million prize money: Samal Island City College of LGU (Local Government Unit) Island Garden City of Samal, CFCST-Palabuniyan Cultural Dance Ensemble from LGU Pikit North Cotabao, Sindac Anib Performing Ensemble from the Bislig Surigao del Sur, Sidlakan Performing Ensemble from Malita, Davao Occidental and Youth Olmag Performing from Arts Guild in Kidapawan City.

The Davao-based schools entries are from Sta. Ana National High School Performing Arts Guild, Dona Carmen Denia National High School, Bernardo D. Carpio National High School Performing Ensemble, Mabini National High School Apo Duwaling Dance Company, and TESDA Region 11. (KSD)
