THE Philippine National Police (PNP) temporarily suspended the Permit to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence (PTCFOR) in Davao Region from August 14 to 22, 2022 in line with the celebration of the Kadayawan Festival in Davao City.

Although the memorandum states that the PTCFOR is suspended for nine days, the memorandum was only issued on Thursday, August 18 by the PNP to the Police Regional Office in Davao Region (PRO-Davao).

It states that only members of law enforcement agencies, such as the PNP, Armed Forces of the Philippines are allowed to carry firearms during official duties and while wearing their uniform.

“This is to ensure that the activity will be free from firearm-related incidents and to ensure the safety of the populace, as well as of the local and foreign tourists,” the PNP stated in the memorandum.

In addition, the PNP said the directive is implemented aligned with the managing Police Operations in coordination with the AFP and other law enforcement agencies.

The major Kadayawan Festival events will be held this weekend, particularly the Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan on Saturday, August 20, and the Pamulak sa Kadayawan on Sunday, August 21.

During this, more than 3,000 security personnel will be deployed for the Indak-Indak and Pamulak events each, with at least 11,346 security deployed for the entire duration of the Kadayawan Festival.

In addition, the security cluster will also implement stricter monitoring on liquor ban for establishments serving alcoholic drinks and reminds the public to be vigilant while participating in Kadayawan events to avoid crime incidents. ICM
