CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda yesterday announced the resumption of quarry operations in Pampanga.

The governor said quarry truckers and operators have complied with the 33-ton weight limit imposed by the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation on the Candaba Viaduct while it rehabilitates the nearly 50-year-old bridge.

Pineda has allowed quarry operators with trucks that pass the load requirement to return to operations on August 19.

The governor earlier imposed a two-week suspension on quarry operations to give way for the cutting of truck sizes.

During the continuation of measuring and weighing in Barangay Manibaug Pasig in Porac town, Governor Delta said that trucks can be operated as long as they have hauling passes and their weight is not less than the allowable gross vehicle weight (GVW).

Based on the KALAM report on August 17, some 1,789 trucks have been measured while 519 had their sidings cut off.

Of the 519 trucks, about 150 have been given hauling passes on August 18.

These passes will serve as proof of inspection and accreditation by the provincial government through KALAM.

The provincial government has tied up with the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) Corporation, Land Transportation Office (LTO), Department of Transportation (DOTr), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and Highway Patrol Group (HPG).

Pineda, together with Porac Mayor Jaime “Jing” Capil, KALAM Head Buddy Dungca, and officials from various agencies, awarded hauling passes to the trucks that passed the accreditation.

Accredited trucks started passing NLEx yesterday, August 19.
