NO CONTRABAND was found during the greyhound operation conducted by authorities at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) jail facility in Takdog, Barangay Poblacion 3, Carcar City on Friday, August 19, 2022.

Daryl Tagalog, chief of admin and records office of the BJMP-Carcar, told Superbalita Cebu that the greyhound operation was conducted around 6 a.m. Friday by BJMP personnel along with 20 officers of Carcar City police and seven members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Visayas.

BJMP-Carcar has 270 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), of which 160 are males and 14 are females.

Tagalog said they conduct greyhound operations to ensure that no illegal drugs and other contraband will be able to enter the jail facility.

This is also to ensure the safety of the PDLs and the public who would visit the jail, he added.

Tagalog added that Jail Chief Inspector Roger Daligdig, jail warden, had instructed them to regularly conduct inspections.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ardeolito Cabagnot, chief of Carcar City Police Station, said they were happy to know that no contraband was found Friday.

The result of the inspection just showed that the BJMP jail is free from illegal drugs, he said.

He added that the Carcar police will also continue to monitor people who have been engaging in the illegal drug trade. (GPL/LMY)
