ILLegal drugs.

This is the angle being pursued by the operatives of Police Station 2 in Bacolod behind the fatal shooting of a woman in the city’s Barangay 2 past 3 a.m. Saturday, August 20.

Police Station deputy commander Lt. Jonito Pastrana, said the victim Ericka Jane Castaneda, 27, of the barangay’s Purok Sigay died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds.

Pastrana said the witness, whose name he withheld, told the police that they were walking along the alley of Purok Sigay when the suspect approached them and killed Castaneda.

The witness claimed the suspect was wearing a mask and was clad in a brown jacket and short pants.

Investigation showed that prior to the incident, an unidentified man was looking for the victim to collect alleged proceeds from illegal drug transactions.

“However, the victim is not in our drugs watch-list,” Pastrana clarified, saying only her live-in partner was arrested for illegal drug-related charges last year.

Station 2 operatives already have a person of interest, whom Pastrana said is just living near the victim’s place.*
