THE NLEX Corporation and the Municipality of Hermosa recently inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the installation of road lights and safety devices between the SCTEX Dinalupihan Spur and Roman Highway.

The road lights and safety devices will guide motorists and enhance their driving experience.

The project, which covers approximately two kilometers, will provide motorists with safer and brighter travel, especially during nighttime, as NLEX will supply and install grid-connected lamp poles with LED luminaires, directional signs, PVC bollards at the median, and metal strips on guardrails.

Signing the MOA were Hermosa Mayor Antonio Joseph “Jopet” R. Inton, NLEX Corporation President and General Manager J. Luigi L. Bautista, Councilor and Committee Chairman on Public Utilities Floyd J. Tungol, and NLEX Corporation First Vice President for Legal Services Atty. Joseph J. Marigomen.

Also present were Vice Mayor Patrick S. Rellosa and other Sangguniang Bayan Members.

“We know that the road lights will make travel safer between the T-intersection located at the SCTEX Roman Highway Access Road (also known as Dinalupihan Spur) and Roman Highway in Hermosa, Bataan. Moreover, with this project, motorists from Roman Highway will not miss the turn to SCTEX Dinalupihan Entry,” NLEX Corporation President Bautista said.

Bautista noted that LED lights will be used to make night driving along the expressway better for the environment as environmental protection and sustainability are also at the core of the company’s programs. He also cited that NLEX has been incorporating sustainable energy sources such as solar power in its daily operations since 2018.

For his part, Mayor Inton thanked the tollway company for its longstanding partnership with the municipality. He also underscored the benefit of the project.

“Ang proyektong ito ay ang magsisiguro sa kaligtasan ng publiko. Napaka-importante po ng area ng roadway lighting project dahil ito po ay root ng kaunlaran. Isa po sa dahilan at naging maunlad ang bayan ng Hermosa ay dahil po sa SCTEX Dinalupihan, ito ang nagko-connect po sa Bataan to other nearby provinces like Pampanga and Northern Luzon,” Inton said.

NLEX Corporation is a subsidiary of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road arm of the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).
