FLORIDABLANCA -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said it has recently completed the construction of a 110.88-lineal-meter slope protection along Gumain River in Barangay Cabangcalan, Floridablanca, Pampanga.
DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, in his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, said the DPWH Pampanga Second District Engineering Office (DEO) monitored the implementation of the P19.58-million project funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
Tolentino added that the newly-built slope protection is connected to existing river walls along the waterways of Gumain River.
The DPWH official said lives and properties of residents near the river are now protected from possible water overflow during heavy rains.
The reduction of flooding in the area is also seen to boost local businesses in Barangay Cabangcalan and the Floridablanca Eco Park in Barangay San Pedro, which is located in the opposite bank of the river.
