335 students get cash aid from DSWD

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has distributed on Saturday, August 20, 2022, a total of P1,077,000 cash aid to 335 students in this southern port city through its educational assistance.

Ivan Eric Salvador, DSWD regional information officer, said the recipients of the financial aid comprised of the following: elementary, 68; high school, 45; senior high school, 49; and, college, 193.

Salvador said that each of the students in the elementary received P1,000; high school, P2,000; senior high school, P3,000; and, college, P4,000.

Salvador said they were supposed to released educational assistance to 500 students but the other 145 identified beneficiaries submitted insufficient or wrong documentary requirements.

“They are advised to complete the documentary requirements,” he said.

It can be recalled that 29 people were injured in a stampede Saturday, August 20, at the entrance of a local public school when huge number of applicants for the assistance rushed towards the Mayor Vitaliano Agan Coliseum to avail of DSWD’s educational cash aid.

Through the help of official of the local government and security sector, they were able to come up with a system to smoothly distribute the educational assistance to the applicants on the same day. (SunStar Zamboanga)
