A 41-YEAR-OLD active police officer assigned to the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) and his cohorts were arrested in an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Poblacion, Badian town, southwest Cebu on Tuesday morning, August 23, 2022.

Staff Sergeant Dennis Sun, chief investigator of Badian Police Station, identified the suspects as PO1 Apollo Concepcion, his 34-year-old live-in partner Charisse Ylaya, of Barangay Poblacion, Badian and his assistant Raphael Legarde, 21.

Both Concepcion and Legarde are residents of Barangay Legaspi, Alegria town.

Sun told SunStar Cebu that they placed Concepcion under the police's watch list after receiving information from the inmates in Badian Police Station about the policeman's alleged involvement in illegal drug activity.

Sun said they monitored Concepcion for four months prior to the buy-bust operation.

Sun said they transacted to buy a sachet of shabu from Concepcion on Monday evening, August 22, and at 7:20 a.m. of the following day, August 23, which resulted in the arrest of the suspects.

Seized from them were six sachets of shabu weighing 20 grams with an estimated street value of P136,000, a hand grenade, P1,000 marked money and a sling bag used as a container of illegal drugs.

The suspects are now detained at the Badian PS, waiting for the drug charges to be filed against them. (GDC, TPT)
