DABAWENYO content creator-turned-actor Esnyr Ranollo bagged two major awards at the recently-concluded TikTok Philippines Awards 2022.
Esnyr was named the Creator of the Year, the highest honor given by the platform this year. He also took home the Popular Creator of the Year Award alongside fellow content creator and pharmacist Arshie Larga.
The 20-year-old content creator first rose to online fame due to his funny and witty school-themed content on TikTok. He then successfully jumped into the mainstream media as one of the rising comedians/actors of his generation today.
“These (awards) are dedicated to the ‘sambayanang classmates’ who believed in me. Nabago talaga ng TikTok ang buhay ko. Nag upload lang ako ng isang video tapos unexpectedly nagustohan ng tao tapos after four months, this simple gay here was tapped by ABS-CBN to be part of a movie,” he said during his acceptance speech. TikTok Awards Philippines 2022 was held on August 13 at the New Frontier Theater and streamed on August 20.
TikTok Philippines Head of Public Policy Toff Rada said the Creator of the Year award is handed to a creator who has generated a huge impact on TikTok and pop culture.
“(Esnyr) is a master storyteller best known for his school skits and ultimately being able to expound his acting career to movies after going viral on TikTok,” Rada shared.
Following Esnyr’s viral content on the platform, Esnyr is now a signed artist under ABS-CBN Films’ talent management arm Rise Artists Studio. Some of the projects he has become a part of were Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano’s 2021 film, Love is Color Blind and digital series He’s Into Her Season 2.
As of writing, he now has 5.2 million followers and nearly 160 million likes since 2021.
To creators on the platform, Esnyr has an advice: Do not stop making content. You just gotta get out of your shell.
Aside from Esnyr, other local content creators, personalities, and media publishers were recognized for the second year of the said awards for keeping the platform entertaining and informative for the past year.
