SINE Halaga Film Festival and Educational Resources project of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Negros Cultural Foundation Inc. are calling for entries in its two-category film festival.

Dubbed by the Society of Filipino Film Reviewers as 2021’s “Third Best Film Festival” after Cinemalaya and QCinema, Sine Halaga introduces Category A for adult filmmakers and Category B for students filmmakers.

Category A for adult filmmakers refers to those aged 20 (by September 30, 2022) and above who are no longer attending school or are already professionals.

Those who are still officially enrolled in college, may submit under student category their films produced from January 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022.

For Category A, prizes for the top three winning films will each win P100,000 and a Halagahan trophy while five finalists will each win P20,000 and Sine Halaga certificates.

Meanwhile, for Category B, student filmmakers are defined as High School, Senior High or Tertiary level students who are officially enrolled in public or private high school, college or university for school year 2022 to 2023 and may submit productions from January 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022.

For Category B, prizes include top three winning films which will each win P50,000 and Sine Halaga certificate as well as five finalists who will each win P10,000 and Sine Halaga certificate.

Sine Halaga National Festival Director Elvert Bañares, during the national press conference, said the purpose of Sine Halaga is to strengthen film literacy programs in the country.

Bañares attributed the feat of Sine Halaga as the “Third Best Film Festival” to the critics and film reviewers’ remarks on the quality of films, the specific educational programs related to films, its systematic implementation, a comprehensive website and its audience reach.

“For this, we are very much grateful to our partners and friends in the media who are a vital part of this feat,” Bañares added. (PR)
