NPA rebel surrenders in Zamboanga del Sur

A NEW People’s Army (NPA) rebel surrendered to police authorities in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, a top police official said Saturday, April 18.

Police Brigadier General Froilan Quidilla, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the NPA surrenderer as Jimboy Adlit, alias Ka Benjie of Balonia village, Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur.

Quidilla said Adlit surrendered around 2:15 p.m. Thursday, April 16, to the Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office in Camp Abelon, Pagadian City, the province’s capital.

He added that Adlit is a member of the NPA’s MRGU Squad 2 based at Sitio Gusahan, Canipay Sur village, Midsalip.

Adlit turned over an M-16 Armalite rifle with eight live ammunition and was placed under the custody of Zamboanga del Sur Mobile Force Company for custodial debriefing.

The surrender of Adlit was made possible through local peace engagement of the Midsalip Municipal Government, police and military and a form the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency in line with the guidelines of Task Force ELCAC as mandated in the Executive Order no. 70.

Adlit will be enrolled in the government’s Enhance Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) and will be receiving a reintegration assistance, immediate assistance, livelihood assistance, and access to government services and medical assistance.

Quidilla encouraged the remaining NPA rebels in the region to lay down their arms and return to the folds of the law. (SunStar Zamboanga)
