AUTHORITIES have arrested two persons and seized smuggled cigarettes anew as the anti-smuggling campaign continue in Zamboanga City, an official said Tuesday, August 30, 2022.
Police Colonel Richard Verceles, operations chief of the Area Police Command-Western Mindanao, identified the two arrested persons as Alwaler Gadjamil Jakirani, 23, and Arnel Herla Ambos, 21.
Verceles said the two were arrested in a checkpoint operation around 4:20 p.m. Monday, August 29, at Sitio Malasugat in Barangay Sangali.
Verceles said the policemen were manning checkpoint when they flagged down a mini-van driven by Jakirani for inspection.
He said that the mini-van was found loaded with five master cases of Cannon brand cigarettes worth P100,000 which both Jakirani and Ambos failed to present documents.
He said that the smuggled cigarettes, vehicle and the two arrested persons were turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition. (SunStar Zamboanga)
