A 47-YEAR-OLD carpenter was arrested by police in his home in Barangay Poblacion Occidental, Consolacion town on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, after he was accused of raping his teenage stepdaughter almost three years ago.

Personnel from the Consolacion Police Station captured Oscar (real name withheld) at his house through a warrant of arrest issued by Mandaue City Regional Trial Court Branch 6 Judge Maria Dee Seares on July 14, 2022. No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.

Oscar was accused by his 17-year-old stepdaughter Elma (not her real name) of raping her in October 2019.

SSgt. Marivic Pepito of Consolacion town’s Women and Children’s Protection Desk said Oscar married Elma’s mother, who eventually produced a son, who is now five years old.

Pepito said Elma’s mother approached their station January of this year to report Oscar for allegedly raping her daughter whenever he was drunk.

Elma’s mother told police that ever since she was raped, her daughter had avoided Oscar and would not sleep at night.

Elma eventually admitted to her mother that Oscar had raped her on numerous occassions, adding that she was first raped in October 2019.

Elma told police that at first, Oscar would just sexually abuse her but it eventually led to rape, especially during bedtime whenever her mother was not around.

Though Oscar didn’t deny he would often rape Elma whenever he was drunk, he alleged that Elma was infatuated with him and that they had consensual sex multiple times.

Pepito said Oscar is now detained at the Consolacion Police Station and is scheduled to face the court on Wednesday, August 31.
