CA confirms Romualdez, Lagdameo’s appointments

THE Commission on Appointments (CA) confirmed on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, the appointment of Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez and Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the United Nations Antonio Manuel Lagdameo.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo also faced the CA, which consists of senators, but the deliberation was deferred due to time constraints.

Romualdez, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s second cousin, has been in the post since July 2017 after he was appointed by former President Rodrigo Duterte.

He has concurrent jurisdiction over the country’s consulate offices in Jamaica, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and Grenadines, and Saint Lucia.
