Thousands benefit from medical missions in Murcia

MORE than a thousand residents availed themselves of medical and dental services, as well as free medicine and vitamins, during the medical and dental missions conducted by the Municipal Government of Murcia in coordination with the Provincial Health Office (PHO) recently.

“Together with Vice Mayor Johnny Reosura and Sangguniang Bayan members, my administration always strives to continuously improve the delivery of health services to our beloved Murciahanons, particularly those who live far from the town proper,” Murcia Mayor Gerry Rojas said.

“Instead of having them come to the town proper to avail of these health services, we will deliver these health services to their doorsteps,” he added.

The Murcia Municipal Health Office personnel headed by Dr. Raymund Antonio Maguad with a volunteer dentist, nurses and midwives together with four dentists and other staff from the PHO conducted medical consultations, circumcisions and tooth extractions.

Antibiotics, hypertension maintenance medicine, vitamins and medications for fever, cough and cold were also distributed to the beneficiaries.

“So far, we have conducted these medical and dental missions in four barangays, namely Cansilayan, which is quite far from the town proper, and the mountain barangays of Canlandog, Pandanon-Silos and Amayco,” Rojas said.

He added that “we will continue with this program so that needy residents of other far-flung barangays can also benefit.”

Local officials joined the activities to show their support for the health program and to personally express their concern for the well-being of their constituents, a press release from the local government said.

The mayor thanked the punong barangays and other personnel for facilitating the medical missions in their respective areas. (PR)
