Lawyer, son ambushed in Mandaue

A CEBU Port Authority (CPA) lawyer was wounded in an ambush in Mandaue City, Cebu Thursday evening, September 1, 2022.

The Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) identified the victim as lawyer Karen Quiñanola-Gonzales, head of CPA’s Business and Marketing Department.

Gonzales was with her 19-year-old son when they were attacked by still unidentified gunmen on Hernan Cortes, Barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.

The incident happened around 10 p.m.

Police Captain Armil Caloscos, chief of MCPO Station 4, said Gonzales sustained a gunshot wound on the left side of her head, while her son was wounded on his back.

The victims are in stable condition, police said.

Caloscos said they are still investigating the incident to determine the motive and the persons behind it.

Police have also started securing footage from closed circuit television cameras in the area where the ambush happened to solve the crime. (BBT/LMY)
