840-K seniors in CL get 2nd booster dose

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Nearly 900,000 senior citizens in Central Luzon have received their second dose of booster shots against Covid-19.

The Department of Health Region III (DOH-3) disclosed that a total of 840,271 individuals under the A2 priority group were given the additional dose of vaccine.

The DOH allowed the administration of a second dose of booster shot only to A1 priority group or the frontline and healthcare workers and A2 priority group or the senior citizens.

The additional vaccine dose is recommended to strengthen immunity against the COVID-19 virus, including the Omicron subvariant BA.2.12.1.

The agency has yet to give a go signal for additional vaccine shot to the rest of the priority groups.

A total of 2,520,315 individuals have received their first dose of booster shot.

The first dose of booster shot is open to the general population regardless of the classification of priority group.
