Yes for peace: An Anti-illegal drugs, insurgency symposium

IN ITS pursuit for freedom against insurgency, and the menace of the illegal drugs the 62nd Infantry (Unifier) Battalion, an anti-insurgency and lIllegal drugs awareness conference was conducted at the Central Philippine State University (CPSU) in Moises Padilla town, Negros Occidental recently.

Dubbed as Youth Empowerment Symposium (YES) for peace, it was spearheaded by the Philippine Army, the Philippine National Police and the CPSU teaching and non-teaching staff.

The Negros Occidental Community Defense Center (NOC-CDC), 6th Regional Community Defense Group, Reserve Command Philippine Army and the unit of CPSU.

Some 219 student leaders and college freshmen actively participated in the activity which was highlighted with the lecture on Insurgency Awareness, and Anti-Illegal Drugs.

“Alias Ka Isay”, a Peace Advocate and a former Rebel, shared her experience on how the Communist NPA Terrorist’s deceive the youth and students by becoming their victims, and the hardship that had ruined her life.

Prayers and Candle Lighting of Peace were offered for the victims of atrocities and human rights violations of Communist Terrorist Group to cap the event.

YES for PEACE Initiative is part of the celebration of Peace Month this September which promotes nationalism, discipline, and support for the Department of Education’s (DepEd) advocacy for restoring the Reserve Officers Training Corps in the college under the National Service Training Program Program.
