7-Eleven Run eyes 8,000 participants in Cebu

THE famed 7-Eleven Run series is back to its physical format this month after being moved to a virtual version for the past two years due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

The nationwide simultaneous run will be held in three key cities in the Philippines, namely Cebu City, Davao City and Manila with an overall target of 40,000 runners on Sept. 24 and 25, 2022.

Over 8,000 competitive runners and fitness enthusiasts are projected to hit the streets for the Cebu Leg, which will start and finish at the Cebu Business Park in Cebu City.

The categories available are the men’s and women’s 42-kilometer, 32K, 21K, 16K, 10K, 10K Buddy, 5K, 5K Buddy and 3K.

The race will kick off at 11 p.m. on Sept. 24 for the 42K runners. The 32K participants will start at 12 a.m. on Sept. 25 followed by the 21K at 2 a.m., 16K at 4 a.m, and 10K at 4:30 a.m., 5K at 5:30 a.m. and 3K at 6:30 a.m.

The Cebu Leg was officially launched on Friday, Sept. 2, at the Cebu Grand Hotel. It was attended by Cebu City Councilor Joel Garganera, Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla of the Cebu City Police Office, race director Joel Juarez, and Philippine Seven Corp.’s Franciso Gayanilo, Josephine Ferreras, Michelle Saludes and Cristy Cunan.

The return marks the 10th installment and fifth simultaneous run in Manila, Cebu and Davao.

Cash prizes will be given to the top three winners in all categories.

The male and female champion in the 42K race will each receive P25,000, while runners-up get P20,000 and P15, 000, respectively. The top three in the 32K will bring home P22,000; P17,000; and P12,000 cash prizes, while the top 21K finishers win P20,000; P15,000; and P10,000.

Registration is now ongoing online on www.run711.com. A vaccination card is required upon registration in compliance with the Covid-19 protocol.

Registration fee is pegged at P1,500 for the 42K; P1,200 for the 32K; P1,000 for the 21K; P800 for the 16K; P600 each for the 10K Buddy; P700 for individual 10K; P600 for the individual 5K; P500 each for the 5K Buddy; and P500 for the 3K.

Interested parties can also pay and register with 7-Eleven Promo using an e-stamp, which can be acquired by the purchase of participating items.
