PATROLLING policemen arrested four persons, including two children, and seized some P140,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes in Zamboanga City, the police reported Monday, September 5, 2022.
Police Colonel Richard Verceles, operations chief of the Area Police Command-Western Mindanao, identified the two of the four arrested persons as Benhar Jammang, 36; and Faisal Awad, 25. The other two were aged 17 and 12.
Verceles said they were arrested around 1:30 a.m. Monday, September 5, in Sitio Asinan, Kansanyangan village, Zamboanga City.
Verceles said the personnel of the Zamboanga City Police Office’s (ZCPO) Station 6 were on roving patrol when they chanced upon the four individuals riding on two motorcycles bringing with their four master cases of cigarettes worth P140,000.
He said they were taken to the headquarters of ZCPO’s Station 6 including the two motorcycles and cigarettes after they failed to show any document of their cargo.
He said the four as well as the motorcycles and undocumented cigarettes will be turned over to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition. (SunStar Zamboanga)
