THE Guadalupe Police Station in Cebu City will be working with their counterparts in Talisay City to investigate the case of a woman who has been reported missing for several weeks.
Relatives of Jocelyn Alce, a 37-year-old resident of H. Labra St. in Barangay Guadalupe, have been looking for her using social media platforms.
However, they decided to report her disappearance to authorities in Cebu City and Cebu Province to gain public attention.
According to initial investigation, Alce was last seen in Talisay city. That’s why they will start their investigation there, said Lieutenant Colonel Maria Theresa Macatangay, information officer of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).
“The police station concerned has been in touch with the family. Pieces of advice were already given to them and they were guided on what to do and we have directed the police station concerned to coordinate with the Talisay City Police Station,” Macatangay said.
The police official said Alce’s disappearance was not recorded on the police blotter because her family was hoping she would return home.
One of her siblings, a non-uniformed personnel at the Parian Police Station, had informed all the police stations in Cebu about Alce’s situation.
They’ve already taken some steps to locate her, Macatangay said.
Meanwhile, the CCPO information officer clarified that police don’t think Alce has been kidnapped because her family doesn’t seem to think so either.
Macatangay said Alce may have run away after a quarrel with a family member. If that’s the case, then only her family will be able to solve her disappearance, she said.
The CCPO earlier created a special unit called the City Committee on Missing and Found Persons and placed Macatangay in charge, as part of a nationwide directive from Camp Crame.
Philippine National Police Chief General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. had ordered an investigation on the rise of abduction cases that had gone viral.
The special unit focuses on kidnapping and attempted kidnapping incidents that are posted on social media.
