BENJIE R. PANGAN : More perks for the MSMEs

PREVIOUSLY, I wrote about the need to extend help to MSMEs to shore up their operations and very existence to maintain their role as the country's economic backbone.

Now, attention and recognition are on them even President BBM is taking part in a summit to explore ways to heighten interest on said MSMEs and generate more support for them. Business leaders were invited to attend so they can pitch in in their effort to make the MSMEs more financially viable.

Specifically, Trade and Industry Secretary Alfredo Pascual has announced his agency's plan to recommend the granting of tax exemptions and other regulatory processes for newly-registered micro, mall and medium enterprises.

Meanwhile, President Marcos, Jr., disclosed that the US government has vowed to help the MSMEs via digital transformation and enhancement of their access to financial services.

Pernicious effects of climate change. Extreme weather conditions were observed in various parts of the world: in China, excessive heat waves were felt by residents while in Pakistan and Kabul, Afghanistan, flooding caused by continuous rans were seen as abnormal weather conditions never seen before or felt by the residents there. In California, Greece and France, fire incidents were registered necessitating the employ of several firemen to put out the fires which in some incidents lasted for several days. Helicopters bearing chemicals to put a stop to these fires were used.

The damage to the ozone layer can no longer be ignored. Indeed, the earth is heating up fast. In contrast, the ic.e sheets and glaciers were melting as fast, thus, the prevailing heat in otherwise colder situations.

Effects of climate change cannot be shrugged off and more weather abnormalities should be addressed soon by nations which resources should be pooled together to resolve climate dangerous effects; otherwise, it will be too late to stop disasters and calamities emanating from them. Nations should act fast and decisively before it's too late.
