A TOTAL of 46 couples in Barangay Balubal tied the knot during the "Kasalan ng Bayan" or mass wedding hosted by the City Government of Cagayan de Oro on Thursday, September 8, 2022.

Kasalan ng Batan is one of the highlight services offered under the "Klarex nga Serbisyo sa Baryo" program of the City Government.

City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy, who officiated the mass wedding, stressed the importance of communication, humility, respect, intimacy, service, and trust in married life.

Uy also shared that doubt between husband and wife will not bring them peace and happiness.

Walay pagduda ug katahap nga maayo, puros gyud makadaot sa magtiayon," Uy said.

Meanwhile, Marijo Acenas, who tied the knot with Ahbil Gaaynon, her partner of 22 years, thanked the City Government for the opportunity of finally legalizing their union.

Acenas shared that she and Gaaynon weren't able to be wed due to financial problems. Moreover, they were victims of the Typhoon Sendong, which caused them to relocate from Barangay Balulang to Barangay Balubal.

Asked about the secret of their long-lasting relationship prior to their marriage, Acenas said that they are the kind of couple who put God first. They are also understanding and patient with each other.

After the mass wedding, each couple received a wedding cake, a whole lechon, a wedding gift and wine from the City Government.
