OPERATIVES of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) Station 7 have arrested one person and seized some P315,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes in Zamboanga City, an official announced Sunday, September 11, 2022.

Police Colonel Richard Verceles, operations chief of the Area Police Command-Western Mindanao, identified the arrested person as Mhedzfar Usman, 31, a resident of San Jose Gusu village, Zamboanga City.

Verceles said Usman was arrested in a checkpoint operation around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, September 10, along Governor Ramos Avenue, Sta. Maria village, Zamboanga City.

Verceles said Usman was arrested while driving a minivan as the operatives of the ZCPO’s Station 7 established a checkpoint after receiving information that a shipment of smuggled cigarettes will pass by Governor Ramos Avenue.

He said the ZCPO’s Station 7 personnel seized some nine master cases of Bravo Red smuggled cigarettes with an estimated value of P315,000.
