A WOMAN was arrested by authorities in an anti-gambling operation in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Monday, September 12.
Police Colonel John Francis Encinareal, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Zamboanga Peninsula, identified the arrested person as Florencia Deirit, 47, of Purok 4 in Calolot village, Tambulig, Zamboanga del Sur.
Encinareal said Deirit was arrested in an anti-gambling operation dubbed as "Oplan Bolilyo" around 7:50 p.m. Saturday, September 10, along the national highway of Calolot village, Tambulig town.
Encinareal said that Deirit was caught in the act of collecting bets for Peryahan ng Bayan.
Seized from Deirit were illegal gambling paraphernalia, a cellular phone, and P1,558 bet money of different denominations.
Encinareal said that Deirit was taken to the municipal police station of Tambulig and later brought to the CIDG-Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Field Unit for documentation and proper disposition. (SunStar Zamboanga)
