SEVEN people were wounded in a grenade explosion at a restaurant in Cotabato City, the police reported Monday, September 12.

Police Colonel Richard Verceles, operations chief of the Area Police Command-Western Mindanao, said the incident happened around 9 p.m. Sunday, September 11, at the Park and Dine Restobar and Foodhouse in Rosary Heights 2, Cotabato City.

Verceles said the victims were identified as Parson Guiaplos, Omar Jamalodin, Sittie Amirkan, Noranifa Uy, Mary Joy Antolan, Maricel Lenis, and Jewel Lenis.

They were rushed to the Cotabato Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Verceles said that prior to the incident, the victims were enjoying their dinner and drinking spree together with their family members and friends when suddenly a grenade exploded.

He said the grenade that exploded was an MK2 fragmentation grenade based on the safety lever recovered at the blast site.

He said investigation continues to determine the identity of the suspect behind the incident. (SunStar Zamboanga)
