Talisay village chair wants road where SUV fell blessed by priest

THE place in Purok Santol, Barangay Campo 4, Talisay City where a sports utility vehicle (SUV) fell off a cliff with a depth of 10 meters is believed to be an enchanted one.

Campo 4 Barangay Captain Rowena Edar said in an interview with the media that they are planning to invite a priest to bless the place with holy water to shoo away bad spirits and to avoid similar accidents from happening again.

The incident involving the SUV took place last Sunday, September 11, 2022.

The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, survived from the fall. He later got out of the car with only a minor scratch.

Edar said there were already four vehicles that fell in the area.

City Talisay-Traffic Operation Development Authority (CT-Toda) head Jonathan Tumulak echoed the same sentiment with Edar.

He said they already informed the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in order for the government agency to check the area and look for possible solutions to the problem.

During their visit, the DPWH personnel headed by Engr. Jun dela Cruz learned that the road where the SUV fell was slippery due to the water coming from different directions, such as underneath the road surface, above the mountain and leaks from water hoses along the roadside.

The drivers involved in the accidents all claimed that they lost control of their vehicles after it skidded off the road.

Tumulak also noticed that the road barrier that was hit by fallen vehicles has not been replaced with a new one.

He advised motorists, especially those passing in the area, to drive safely to avoid accidents. (BBT, TPT)
