RECOGNIZING its business viability and the huge market here, Landers Superrstore is finally penetrating Bacolod City by opening its seventh store in the country, particulary within The Upper East, a 34-hectare township development of propert giant Megaworl Corp. in the Negros Occidental capital city.

Landers Superstore Chief Operating Officer Pieter Lukman, in a media briefing at the Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod yesterday, September 13, announced that the “fastest-growing membership shopping store in the country” is expanding its reach in the Visayas region with a new store in the city.

Lukman said the firm is pouring in more half a billion pesos worth of investment for the development of Landers Upper East, which will be the first in Western Visayas, the second outside of Luzon, and fourth within a Megaworld property.

The firm targets to open the store on March 23 next year and will generate at least 600 jobs from the construction to and operation stage, he said, adding that “we aim to give the best price and products for the people here and we look forward to more things for Bacolod City.”

Megaworld, in a statement, said the store will occupy a 25,000-square meter area along the Upper East Avenue, just across the two latest residential condominium developments, Two Regis and Herald Parksuites, as well as the upcoming business process outsourcing (BPO) office towers.

This premier membership shopping store will be directly connected to the west wing of the soon-to-rise three-level Upper East Mall via a 30-meter long bridgeway, which will come equipped with a walkalator to allow greater mobility for customers even with their grocery carts in tow, the property developer said.

It will also feature its own Caltex Gas Station, where members can enjoy unrivaled exclusive discounts on fuel products up to P15 per liter.

Other Landers stores under Megaworld include Landers Alabang West, Landers Arcovia City and Landers Uptown Bonifacio.

Landers Superstore is thrilled to call Bacolod City as its second home in the Visayas, the firm said, adding that Bacolod stood out among other cities in the region for its tremendous economic growth over the years and its solid reputation as one of the most business-friendly cities in the country.

The retail chain also noted the increasing demand for premium goods and experiences from the city’s growing population, ensuring a steady market for its core business.

For Graham Coates, first vice president and head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, they always wanted to bring Landers Superstore to Bacolod City.

They wanted to bring in brands including those from Asia, Europe and USA that are doing so well in Manila, Coates said.

“This is just a start of our future expansion and development within The Upper East. It will also encourage other developers to join us in this township,” he said, adding that “expect other Landers developments in the future.”

Other features

Another particular highlight of Landers Upper East will be its expansive parking area, which will be designed to accommodate more than 300 vehicles at a time.

Megaworld said the facility will be integrated into an area of the township where centuries-old trees are preserved. Permeable paver blocks will be used for the ground surface of the parking area for better rainwater retention.

The store will also have a host of sustainable features, including high bay LED lighting fixtures and energy efficient air-conditioning units, the firm said.

It will also be equipped with backup emergency power, as well as a rainwater collector system that will allow the collection and harvesting of water for later use, it added.

“We are very happy and excited to host another Landers in our township. This will be one of our anchor commercial establishments that will be directly connected to our iconic Upper East Mall,” Coates said.

“Our strategic partnership with Landers has gone a long way. They are an important component of our rising modern townships,” Coates said, adding that The Upper East’s prime location will draw in thousands of people to live, work, and play in its affluent spaces.

“The super three-day sale is being done quarterly where almost everything is covered for up to 50 percent off and buy one take one promos,” its chief operating officer said during the briefing.

Members may also access Landers online through www.landers.ph or via the Landers Superstore app, the firm said, adding that these platforms offer added convenience by allowing members to enjoy their store favorites anytime, anywhere.

“Landers Superstore actually adds value to the property within The Upper East as well as convenience to those who will be living and working there,” Megaworld Visayas Vice President for Sales and Marketing Jennifer Palmares-Fong said.

Aside from the Landers-Caltex gas station that provides discounted fuel, additional membership perks include priced medicine from Capital Care Pharmacy, and free haircut from Federal Barbers.

Geronimo assured that the upcoming MassKara Festival 2022 celebration in October will not impede the development of Landers Upper East as the township will host some of the major events.
