Over 2K jobs in 2-day tourism job fair

OVER 2,000 job vacancies in the tourism sector of Davao Region will be offered during the two-day job fair from September 22 to 23, 2022.

As of September 12, there are 2,510 vacancies available for the Davao Region leg of the Trabaho-Turismo-Asenso: Philippine Tourism Job Fair of the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole).

The participants in the job fair are at least 33 local employers wherein 18 are primary establishment employers from DOT of Davao Region (DOT-Davao) and Davao Tourism Association (Data) while 15 are secondary and allied services from the Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

DOT-Davao regional director Tanya-Rabat Tan said the event is aligned with the national government’s directive. She said both DOT-Davao and Dole-Davao target 1,000 applicants for the said job fair.

“(This is to) provide a venue in creating livelihood or job opportunities for our job seekers in the tourism sector,” Tan said during a media forum on Wednesday, September 14.

Of the 2,510 vacancies, 714 are from the primary employers including 232 vacancies in EJLD Tourism Consultancy Services, 150 in Discovery Shores, 120 in Apores Resorts, and 59 in FTC Group of Companies, particularly in Greenwindows Hotel and Aeon Luxe Towers.

The rest are from known hotels and resorts in Davao City namely Seda Hotel, Waterfront Insular Hotel, Pinnacle Hotel, Dusit Thani Davao, Microtel, Rogen Inn, Home Crest, Top Star Hotel Corp., Casa Leticia, Villa Amparo Beach Resort, Cattigan Mountain Breeze, and Be-ing Suites and Restobar.

On the other hand, 1,796 vacancies are available in the secondary and allied services mostly from business process outsourcing companies including 500 vacancies in VXI Global Holdings B.V., 391 in Talent Outsourcing Channel Solutions, and 224 in Beawesome Inc.

There are also 122 vacancies in paramount Human Resource Multi-purpose Cooperative, 104 in Officepartners 360 Inc., 81 in Jairosoft Inc., and 65 in Saratel Solutions Inc.

The rest of the employers are 3ME Manpower Services, Alorica Teleservices Inc., Peoplelink Services Cooperative, Rosabaya Distributors Inc., United Wil Manpower and Allied Services Inc., DC Invest Inc., Philippine Seven Corp., and Golden Mindanao Global Holding Company Inc.

Data president Cherry Al-ag said the association is looking forward to the event as the private tourism sector in Davao City is seeking to hire more talents and employees.

“The tourism sector actually witnessed a growth already, an increase in activities. We heard some of our members saying they are lacking employees already, they are looking for more talents because there are more activities in their respective establishments,” Al-ag said.

The tourism job fair will be a hybrid event to cater to online and face-to-face (F2F) pre-registration on September 21, while the main event and F2F interview will be on September 22 to 23.

The F2F part of the event will be held at Ayala Abreeza Mall at J.P. Laurel Avenue in Davao City. ICM
