"The Cattleya Killer" featuring QC First district Congressman Arjo Atayde has just finished the shoot.
The upcoming series is a small screen adaptation of the 1996 movie, "Sa Aking Mga Kamaya" topbilled by Aga Muhlach and Christopher de leon.
The story revolves around a serial killer who preys on faithful wives, by killing them and leaving a cattleya flower on their bodies.
Aside from Arjo Jake Cuenca joins the cast with ZsaZsa Padilla, Christopher de Leon, Jane Oneiza, Ricky Davao, Nonie Buencamino, and Ria Atayde.
Ruel S. Bayani, the ABS-CBN head of international production arm, explained how they chose Arjo to top-bill the project.
"He has a proven track record of giving justice to the diverse roles he has portrayed through the years.
“His depth and range as an actor will definitely give a fresh take on this 1996 classic.”
On the other hand, Arjo was so ecstatic with his very challenging role.
“First of all, ABS-CBN never fails to surprise me all the time with all these characters.
"It’s one hell of a story. It’s one hell of a character, and it’s not normally done here. This is one of the most powerful stories that they’re going to tell. I am proud to be part of it.
"Hopefully, The Cattleya Killer could be one if not the possible door to ABS-CBN stepping into the foreign industry.”
The Rebirth of the Cattleya Killer will be produced by ABS-CBN Entertainment's International Production and Co-Production, which is the same division that helped the local production of Almost Paradise.
The first US T.V. series to be set entirely in the Philippines, Almost Paradise was top-billed by Christian Kane and aired on A2Z Channel 11, Kapamilya Online Live, and Kapamilya Channel from March to May 2021. It was co-produced by Hollywood's Electric Entertainment.
For The Rebirth of the Cattleya Killer, director Dan Villegas, who also directed an episode of Almost Paradise, will helm the project.
In December 2020, Arjo brought pride to the Philippine entertainment industry when he won Best Actor in the Asian Academy Creative Awards for the iWant TFC series Bagman.
ABS-CBN has yet to announce when The Rebirth of the Cattleya Killer has to be shown.
