SOME 1,350 students of Mateo Libo-on National High School at Barangay Montilla and Guinpana-an National High School-Main the town of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental underwent Youth Empowerment Symposium (Yes) for Peace Initiative on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
Yes is a joint program conducted by the Moises Padilla Municipal Police Station and the 62nd Infantry (Unifier) Battalion of the Philippine Army in partnership with the Department of Education Division–District of Moises Padilla held at their respective schools.
In a statement, the army said that the symposium was highlighted with the lectures on anti-illegal drugs, Insurgency Awareness, recruitment of minors and enlightenment on Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip) benefits for former rebels.
“Ka Sky,” a Peace Advocate and a former rebel, gave a message of peace and testimony.
The former rebel also shared her experience on how the Communist New People’s Army (NPA) Terrorist deceive the youth, students and the hardships that ruined her life.
The activity was capped with an oath of the students on “Panata ng Isang Huwarang Kabataan,” prayer and candle lighting for the victims of Communist NPA Terrorist atrocities and human rights victims.
The Yes for Peace Initiative is part of the celebration for this year’s peace month aiming to promote nationalism and discipline among others. (PR)
