A MAN who survived the first attempt on his life last year did not make it this time after he was shot dead by motorcycle riding-in-tandem at 11:15 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2022, on N. Bacalso Avenue, Barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City.

Police Chief Master Sergeant Jephthah Jumawan, investigator of Abellana Police Station 2, identified the victim as Edwardo "Bamboo" Blanco Bersabal, around 30 years old, from Sitio Laguna of the same village.

Berfie Lazarte, sister-in-law of Bersabal, confirmed that the victim was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.

Police investigation showed that the victim was hanging around along N. Bacalso Avenue when the gunman backriding on a motorcycle shot him in the head.

The victim's relatives brought him to the hospital, where he was declared dead by attending physician.

Police recovered a spent bullet from the crime scene.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) are still determining what kind of gun did the bullet come from.

Jumawan said they are considering personal grudge and illegal drugs as among the motives in the shooting.

Sambag 1 barangay tanod team leader Absolon Engayo said in an interview with SunStar Cebu that somebody attempted on the life of the victim last year but he survived the attack.

Bersabal's mother, Norma, who was with him during the shooting last year, was not spared as she was critically shot, resulting in her death. (BBT, TPT)
