109 ASF-affected hog raisers in Oro receive piglets, feeds and vitamins

A TOTAL of 109 backyard hog raisers in Cagayan de Oro who were affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF) each received three piglets, three bags of feeds and vitamins last Friday, September 16, 2022.

These hog raisers, who came from 19 barangays in the city, were among the second batch of the Swine Sentinel Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA)-Northern Mindanao.

The distribution of the piglets, feeds and vitamins was held in the Barangay Mambuaya covered court.

According to DA-10, the said program aims to help hog raisers regain their livelihood after being affected by the ASF last year. Moreover, the said agency will observe and monitor the piglets for 40 days to determine whether they are negative for ASF.

It can be recalled that 34 barangays in Cagayan de Oro City were hit by the ASF, with more than a hundred backyard hog raisers being affected. (SunStar Philippines)
