THE Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) has started Monday, September 19, the conduct of survey for the titling of lots of government properties and historical land marks are located.

This was based on the request of Mayor John Dalipe who found out that the century-old City Hall, main public market and three landmarks—Plaza Pershing, Plaza Roma and Rizal Park have no land titles yet.

“To make it formal, I requested CENRO to conduct survey so that the land titles can be placed in the name of the City of Zamboanga,” Dalipe said.

Dalipe, together with City Legal Officer Haydee Panganiban and City Engineer Christopher Navarro met the CENRO team to discuss the details of his request.

City Hall, which was built in 1905 by the Federal Government of the United States, serves as the seat of the local government.

The main public market is the first and oldest market of the city while Plaza Pershing, Plaza Roma and Rizal Park are among the historical landmarks of this city.

Jaime Salvador, CENRO officer-in-charge, said that the conduct of the survey is intended to locate the actual boundary of City Hall and the other areas mentioned and to recommend to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for the title and approval of the survey.

Salvador said his team will recommend DENR for the issuance of special patent, a public instrument issued by the government to confirm ownership over a parcel of land.

Salvador suggested that the City Government assign a focal person to focus on the progress of the survey and the eventual finalization of the mapping and endorsement to the DENR for approval. (SunStar Zamboanga)
