THE National Irrigation Administration (NIA) has completed the construction of P34 million Small Irrigation Project (SIP) in an east coast village in Zamboanga City.

Robert Berni Rada, Zamboanga-Basilan-Sulu-Tawi-Tawi (Zambasulta) Regional Sub-Office acting manager, said in a statement Friday, September 23, that the SIP was built in Latuan village, 48.3 kilometers east of the city.

Rada said the newly-completed project was turned over Tuesday, September 20, 2022, to the Latuan Irrigators Association (LIA) in a ceremony held at the covered court of the village.

Rada said that the Latuan SIP covers the construction of Intake Structure, Reinforced Concrete Tank and Pipeline.

He said that irrigation project can irrigate a total of 75 hectares of agricultural land that will benefit 40 farmers and their families in Latuan village.

The members of the LIA are thankful to NIA for the implementation of the project in their village.

The project is expected to boost the agricultural production of the association. (SunStar Zamboanga)
