Friday night raids result in arrest of 2 couples in Carcar City

TWO couples were arrested in separate buy-bust operations on Friday night, September 23, 2022, in Carcar City, Cebu.

The first couple was identified as Rodel Bacus Barrido, 28, and his live-in partner Niña Jessica Marie Solon Mercado, 24.

Police found the two in their house in Sitio Awayan, Barangay Poblacion 3 in the city around 9:40 p.m.

Barrido, who originally hails from Sitio Tangasan, Barangay Valladolid, and Mercado, who originally hails from Barangay Poblacion 3, are on the police’s street-level individuals (SLI) watchlist.

Lieutenant Colonel Ardioleto Cabagnot, chief of the Carcar City Police Station, said suspects they had arrested pointed to the two as their suppliers of illegal drugs.

Recovered from Barrido and Mercado were 26 small packs of shabu, P500 buy-bust money, P610 in cash believed to be drug proceeds, a KG9 sub-machine gun, 10 bullets for a 9mm pistol and one magazine.

The illegal drugs had a combined weight of 1.3 grams and were worth P8,840, based on the standard drug price.

Two hours later at 11: 40 p.m., police arrested Joseph Jay Tamayo, 32, and his live-in partner Angelica Unabia Ferolino, 25, in Sitio Tangasan, Barangay Valladolid.

Tamayo and Ferolino are also on the police’s SLI watchlist.

Recovered from the two were 10 small packs of shabu, P500 buy-bust money and P500 in cash believed to be drug proceeds.

The illegal drugs had a combined weight of 0.5 grams and were worth P3,400, based on the standard drug price. (GPL)
