Eugenio: Bridging hearts

Eugenio: Bridging hearts

A prevalent, but often, dismissed problem that exists is misunderstanding and the lack to understand. More often than not, many relationships end simply because of a misunderstanding. I hear stories of cutting ties and ghosting simply because of not seeing eye-to-eye with a destructive desire to not want to see from another perspective. Although it can be difficult, to put yourself in someone else’s shoes can definitely prevent needless fighting and build deeper bonds in the process.

That being said, seeing from someone else’s perspective can still be challenging for a lot of people. However, one thing that aids in seeing eye to eye is finding out what someone is like. In my profession, I find a person’s traits with their Heaven Luck, which refers to their innate characteristics and their past, and is one of the Three Factors of Human Success. By knowing one’s past and tendencies, one is able to sympathize better, but unfortunately, knowing someone’s Heaven Luck is not accessible to all.

Usually, one has to take time and truly get to know and understand someone before being able to make connections. Making these connections can take years as people are not so easily revealing and trusting. Over time, one can gradually build trust and respect from other people simply by putting in the work. With effort and perseverance, one can even be empathetic without never truly knowing the challenges of the other person.

This brings to mind the other Factor of Human Success, Man Luck, which refers to hard work. As much as relationships may form from innate connection, what maintains those relationships is hard word, commitment and communication. However, especially to those who have a hard time communicating, maintaining a relationship can be taxing. Despite the work that must be put into it, the beauty of nurturing a relationship built on empathy is worth any hardship and eventually becomes commonplace instead of a chore.

Humans are social beings bound to make connections. Although one is often not in control of the relationship one gets into, one is in full control of the ones one stays in. Despite being free to choose our connections, fights and quarrels between friends, family and lovers will never disappear. Even if miscommunication and misunderstandings will never disappear, the choice of wanting to understand one another is enough to keep and strengthen any bridge between hearts.
