“REORIENT yourself and know what you really want.”

This was the advice of Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca, chief of police of Silay City component station, on Sunday, September 26, 2022, to his fellow public servants who apparently are already losing interest in their work.

Darroca was recently recognized by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) as a Dangal ng Bayan awardee for his outstanding performance as a public official in the entire Western Visayas Region.

The agency is conferring this award to government servants for their extraordinary acts or public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior on the basis of his/her observance of the eight norms of behavior provided under Republic Act No. 6713.

The law entitled the “Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees” stresses that public employees and servants should have commitment to public interest, professionalism, justness and sincerity, political neutrality, responsiveness to the public, sense of nationalism and patriotism, commitment to democracy and simple living.

Aside from Darroca, nine other government workers including teachers vied for the award in the region.

“Among my edge I think are my best practices in solving existing problems (and) I always innovate procedures to improve my performance,” Darroca shared, adding that he is elated with the recognition he received.

He said that the CSC reviewed all his accomplishments in the last three years including those when he was still the chief of Police of San Jose town in Antique, deputy chief of the Regional Intelligence Division of Police Regional Office-Western Visayas and the chief of the Regional Drugs Enforcement Unit.

“This will serve as an inspiration for me and will drive me to continue my momentum to serve (since) this serves as honor not only for me but for my family and the rest of the PNP (Philippine National Police),” Darroca also said.

The police official stressed that as a government worker, he swear to live with his organization’s vision and mission, adding that if one loves his or her job, then eventually that individual will be able to deliver his best performance.

Darroca will be receiving his citation during an awarding ceremony at the Diversion 21 hotel in Iloilo City on Wednesday, September 28.
